Jatayu Statue, known as Jatayu Nature Park, is known as Earth’s Centre. Jatayu Park was created by one of the filmmakers, Rajiv Anchal, who is an internationally acclaimed Movie Director. So let’s see how much area is covered by this place. Jatayu Statue’s length is 200ft (61m) and its width is 150ft (46m), and its height is 70ft (21m). Jatayu Statue is the world’s largest functional bird sculpture, which also gained the Guinness book of World Records.

The divine story behind this largest monument:

Jatayu Statue is representing Ramayana. It is a symbol of the protection of women and their safety.

Let me tell you the Divine story of Ramayana. In Ramayana, Jatayu was a divine bird; he was known as the protector of Sita from Ravana. When Jatayu heard Sita’s crying voice, he came and started fighting with Ravana in the skies, who abducted Sita to Lanka, but he cut off his wings, and Jatayu fell onto the rocks in Chadayamangalam. After his injuries, Jatayu explained to Rama and Lakshmana about Ravana’s abduction of Sita.

This has Multi-level audio and visuals, a 6D theatre which is interior. Now let me describe its outdoor beauty, an open-air amphitheatre with a beautiful sunset view. This statue is a replica of King Janaka’s palace and Rama Temple with the footprints of Rama. Also, this has the facility of a Ropeway plus an 826-step stone walkway.

This park was opened for visitors on the 4th of July 2018, which was inaugurated by Kerala’s Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan.

Attractions/Activities covered in Jatayu Park:

First of all, this statue spread across 65 acres with a rock-themed adventure zone. This Rock Theme adventure zone opened on the 5th of December in 2017.

Activities which are included in this, Burma bridges, commando nets, chimney climbing, log walk, vertical ladder, zip line, paintball, rock climbing, rappelling, archery, bouldering, valley crossing, and more.

There is also Heali-Cave, which is called Ayurveda therapy, glamping, yoga camps, and eco-friendly farms, which are powered by rainwater harvesting & solar energy.

If you have a busy schedule, then you can also take the helipad. If you take the helipad, you will see the beauty of Jatayu’s whole park at the top of the route. If you take a helipad, it may cost between 2400 Rs to 15,000 Rs, which depends on the type of ride.

Also, they have a special offer for helicopter rides on the special dates, so if you take helipad it will be beneficial if you check their social media.

Detailed information about the Jatayu Statue:

First of all, this park does not require any special transportation, but if you want to go to the top of this, you can take the 826 steps walkway, or you can take the cable car. And secondly, you have to purchase a ticket for the cable car route. And you will see the security on the way to the top. This park was built through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This park was constructed based on eco-sensitive principles and maintains the natural perspective. Also, the dam between the rocks retains up to 2 million liters of rainwater.

You can take your bags and cameras because these are allowed, but food and plastic bottles are not allowed because water is available on top. Also, you will see many cafes throughout the route.

You will find the nearest Airport to this park: Trivandrum International. Also, there is one Railway station, “Kollam Junction”

You may visit this park in October-February, which is the best time to visit because the Monsoon adds a more beautiful view of greenery. If you are visiting this park by Car, it takes around only 1 to 2 hours to reach the park from Kollam, but it depends on the traffic. Also, this route gives scenic views and beautiful greenery of Kerala. Jatayu Park’s opening time is 10 am, and its closing time is 5.30 pm.
